We arrived at the luxiourius City Club in Vienna in the mid-afternoon, which gave Nate and I plenty of time to explore the resort. We found the badminton court, and had a quick game, before moving on to discover the gym, pool, spa and sauna. I think there were a few people who enjoyed the facilities during our two nights in Vienna. All dressed up, we were taken into the city for dinner and then the Mozart concert. Dinner was our choice, but on the way in something caught my eye...an Australian theme Pub. After eating my dinner pretty quickly, I made my way to the pub with Michaela & Yvonne, and treated them, and myself to our first Fosters beer.We were soon joined by a few more Aussies who all bought a beer that we have in Australia. I guess we all missed the taste of the beer back home. After a the drinks, we went to the Mozart concert where the ochestra wore traditional dress. After a great performance, we headed back to the hotel, and then back to the bar and the pool. Next day we had
to ourselves to explore Vienna. We were taken on a quick trip around
the ring road in the city, and
then we were off to do our own thing. Some people just had to go back
to the resort and enjoy the pool, and the air conditioning, but a few
of us stayed in the city. We wandered around the gardens and streets
for a few hours and just relaxed. We were picked up later in the afternoon,
and went back to the resort via the Schönbrunn
Palace and the Schanpps museum, where we all participated in the taste
testing. After a long day, it was a quiet night with a relaxed dinner
at the resort. The next day saw us head off for Munich. On the way we were given the opportunity to visit the remains of the Concentration Camp at Mathausen. It was a place that I did not enjoy walking around, but something that I will not forget. To cheer us all up, we made another stop off at Modsee where part of the Sound of Music was filmed. A bite to eat, and we were back on the road to Munich. We arrived in Munich,
and had a small amount of free time. I took the opportunity to have
a quick nap, and then got ready to go to dinner. We walked through Munich,
and arrived at the restaurant. After dinner we were eagerly awaiting
our next destination... the beer halls. We entered the Hofbräuhaus
which really was something else. Everyone was having a good time singing
along to the traditional songs. I was amazed by the amount of beer that
the ladies can carry in one go. They can carry four pints in each hand.
I had trouble lifting one. Sadly, a few pints later it was time to leave
and make our way back to the hotel. The next day got off to a quiet start, as some of us were a little sore from last night's activities. We had a few hours to explore Munich before heading back into Austria, and on to Hopfgarten. The adventurous in our group went white water rafting before we arrived at the Gastof were we were spending two nights. This place was so quiet and relaxed it was brilliant. We ventured out to the Silver Bullet after dinner and particpated in the karoake. It was a semi-quiet night in regard to partying, as we went mountain bike riding the next morning. The scenery along the ride was so green. After the bike ride, I went paragliding, and flew above the mountains feeling like a bird. A safe landing and back to Hopfgarten. A few of us walked around the quiet town later in the night before calling it quits for the day. The next morning we said goodbye to Hopfgarten and Austria, and made our way to Switzerland. |
